Street Characters Inc. offers training programs for mascot performers, their spotter escorts and mascot program managers. These programs are available on a private or group basis. Group seminars are conducted semiannually at our Mascot School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and at regional locations throughout North America. Private training sessions are available anytime at our Mascot School or at a client's place of business.

Street Characters also offers a round table discussion presentation on the impact of mascots in sports and business. This presentation is designed for organizations that are contemplating the purchase of a mascot but are uncertain what benefits it can provide. Street Characters conducts this presentation by request at trade shows, conventions and sports league meetings.

Street Characters training programs are personally instructed by company president Glenn Street. A former mascot performer with the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames and the world famous Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, Glenn has a wealth of experience to share with novice and veteran performers. Mascot Performer and Spotter Seminar
This eight hour seminar consists of formal classroom lessons, practical training sessions and reviews of mascot video footage. Participants are encouraged to bring their mascot costumes with them.
The goal of this seminar is to teach mascot performers and their spotter escorts how to make their costumed character come to life as a lovable, entertaining and memorable ambassador of the team or company they work for. To achieve this goal, the seminar focuses on three objectives:

Training Objective 1
To familiarize novice mascot performers with the basic techniques of performing in costume.

Subjects include:

• Costume dressing techniques
• Developing an appropriate personality for the mascot
• The basics of non-verbal communications (i.e. gestures)
• Basic entertainment routines
• The Mascot 10 Commandments

To provide performers and spotters of all experience levels with information to improve their entertainment routines. Subjects include:

• Prop design
• Developing appropriate routines for sporting venues
• Developing appropriate routines for corporate venues
• How to read and respond to an audience's reaction
• Performance techniques for working with children

Training Objective 3

To provide performers and spotters of all experience levels with information to safeguard the mascot's physical security and public image during performances. Subjects include:

• Occupational health and safety
• Mascot security (e.g. dealing with abusive fans)
• Emergency costume repair
• The basics of media and public relations

Mascot Program Administrator Course
This is an intensive 3.5 hour seminar style course. The goal of the course is to teach mascot program administrators how to effectively manage their mascot programs so they will achieve maximum public relations and marketing results for their organization.
