Glenn Street : Top Dog
Glenn is a true pioneer in the Mascot Industry, both as
a performing mascot himself and then as a maker of quality
mascot costumes. Over 20 years ago Glenn performed as the
first-ever Mascot in the NHL (National Hockey League). He
performed the duties and hilarious antics of "Harvey the Hound" for
the Calgary Flames. The popularity of his performances prompted
many other NHL teams to contact Glenn and ask him to create
mascot characters for them as well.
For Glenn, this experience exposed him to three significant
opportunities. The first was to learn at a grassroots level
all of the routines and stunts that work with crowds and
how to work that into a
highly successful coordinated Mascot program. Second, he
learned the importance of several factors in the design and
manufacturing of the
costumes that could negatively and positively affect his
performance as a Mascot. He couldn't understand how someone
who hasn't walked a mile in my (oversized) shoes, could ever
profess to know how to build a proper mascot. Third, he discovered
how many teams, schools,
and businesses
wanted Mascot costumes as well since he was bombarded continuously
with
requests of "Where can I get a Mascot Costume from?".
The Third discovery was the impetus for Glenn to start Street Characters and
began the exciting journey of establishing his business as the leader in the
design & manufacturing of quality Mascot costumes. Twenty years later, Street
Characters is still the world leader and has been chosen by over one thousand
different organizations, teams, and schools. The years of experience and the
volumes of knowledge that we have gained by our hands-on approach in the industry
is built into every mascot costume made by Street Characters. When we say that
our mascot costumes are "Made by mascots for Mascots"- we mean it. Glenn
Street
has been there since day one!

Brendan Whitty: Art Dept.
Imagine having your young daughter tell you "Daddy,
you have the best job in the world, all you do is draw and
color
all day!"
Brendan is our Concept Artist, and is the creative genius that takes your ideas
or "concept" and turns it into reality. Brendan has designed over
450 different mascot concepts and turned over 330 of these into successful,
high-performance
mascots that are out there performing today. You name your inspiration: whether
it is a brick, a lump of coal, a Koala bear, a Parakeet, or a friendly dog-
Brendan will take your idea and work his magic with our proprietary 3-D
design process.
The result is that YOU will receive a mascot that is attractive, that
audiences respond to, and is practical, comfortable, and safe for the performer.
Brendan's greatest rewards with Street Characters involve: 1) getting to the
coloring stage of the concept rendering- when the character starts to take life,
and 2)
Seeing the living, breathing mascot walking around and generating smiles wherever
it goes. This passion runs deep with Brendan, and is why Street Characters is
so proud to present its audience-winning
designs.

About
Us..a little history
At Street Characters, we turn dreams into reality! We breathe
life into the characters that we create. Our characters are
fun, full of life and built to last!
Street Characters Inc. roots trace back to 1984 when our
company president Glenn Street was involved in the creating
two high profile local mascots. Those mascots were Harvey
the Hound of the Calgary Flames , the first mascot in the
National Hockey League and Harry the Horse, of the world
famous Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
While performing as Harvey, Glenn was frequently asked
by other teams how they could get a similar character
for their
own. Seeing a great opportunity, Glenn started Street
Characters Inc. in 1987.
Since then, Street Characters has grown to become a complete
mascot solutions company. As well as making great costumes,
we audition and train performers for clients and consult
with THEM in the management of their characters. We also
sell support materials like training manuals and videos
designed to help clients make the most of their mascot.
No other mascot
company offers the range of expertise or products that
we do.
Since our inception, we have created hundreds of mascots
for clients around the world. Our clients include pro
sports teams, colleges, high schools, corporations,
theme parks
and festivals. We have trained performers and administrators
and supplied mascot management services to a number
of clients regionally and abroad. Through it all, we
are
proud to say
that Street Characters is established as the world
leader in creating FUN!
